blue ridge parkway motorcycling

Motorcycling on the Blue Ridge Parkway is like heaven on earth for motorcycle riding enthusiasts. If you're a fan of riding motorcycles, then we don't have to tell you that there isn't much of anything that's better than having the wind in your face and the freedom of the open road ahead of you. Riding your motorcycle through the rugged terrain while surrounded by the vast scenic landscapes of the Blue Ridge Parkway can be a life changing experience that takes your breath away.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of the most popular destinations in the country for bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts, and it is easy to see why since it offers some of the best motorcycle riding adventures you can find anywhere in the world. Whether your thing is sport riding or just cruising around soaking up the sights, this area has exactly what you're looking for and then some.

When To Come

Riding the Blue Ridge Parkway is an amazing experience during the Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. Riding on the Parkway in the Winter is not recommend as ice in tunnels and other unexpected conditions can make riding dangerous.

Our Favorite Spots

You can't make a bad choice about where to ride in the region, but there are some routes that are just too good not to mention.

Just a short ride from the southern end of the Blue Ridge Parkway you'll find world famous Deals Gap, or "The Tail of the Dragon" as the locals call it. US 129 carves its way through the Smoky Mountains serving up a mind-bending 318 turns in an 11 mile stretch of road. The scenery is stunningly beautiful, the people are great, and roads just don't get any more twisty than this! This is one ride that no biker should miss! While you are in the area, be sure to ride the Cherohala Skyway as well!

Coming Prepared

Temperatures on the Parkway can be quite a bit cooler than the valleys below (often by 20 degrees or more), sometimes causing it to be unexpectedly chilly for motorcyclists riding at high altitude. Always be sure to bring warm riding gear in case temperatures are cooler than you expect.

Always avoid riding your motorcycle on the Blue Ridge Parkway during any fog or harsh weather conditions.
